Midwest Plains (Rapid City, SD) Can’t Catch Up To Pacific Southwest (Tri-Valley, CA)

Midwest Plains watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 9-3 loss to Pacific Southwest on Sunday. Pacific Southwest scored on a single by Joshua Werner in the first inning, a single by Drew Hannula in the second inning, a single by Ryan Giffins in the second inning, and a double by Julian Cambra in the second inning.

The Midwest Plains struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Pacific Southwest, giving up nine runs.

Pacific Southwest fired up the offense in the first inning, when Werner singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Pacific Southwest scored five runs in the second inning. Hannula, Giffins, and Cambra each had RBIs in the big inning.

Gavin Colombo was on the mound for Pacific Southwest. The bulldog lasted four innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out five.

Colten Morlang was on the hill for Midwest Plains. The pitcher surrendered nine runs on seven hits over three and two-thirds innings. Mason Brooks threw three and a third innings out of the bullpen.

Midwest Plains tallied eight hits. Luke Hanzlik and Brooks all managed multiple hits for Midwest Plains. Hanzlik led Midwest Plains with three hits in four at bats.

Pacific Southwest scattered eight hits in the game. Hannula and Werner each had multiple hits for Pacific Southwest.
