Middle Atlantic Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Ottumwa IA
Middle Atlantic defeated Ottumwa IA 6-2 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run for Middle Atlantic.
In the first inning, Ottumwa IA got their offense started. Ottumwa IA scored one run when Nolan Heller singled.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Middle Atlantic tied things up at one when Jack Lanum singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Bobby Gillespie was on the mound for Middle Atlantic. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out five.
Tucker Long toed the rubber for Ottumwa IA. The hurler surrendered five runs on six hits over four innings, striking out one. Maddex Kennedy threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Brad Sweet went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Middle Atlantic in hits. Middle Atlantic didn’t commit a single error in the field. James Kilgallon had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
Heller led Ottumwa IA with two hits in three at bats.
