Pitching Tip – Throwing Outside or Inside

November 6, 2018 by Baseball Dad Leave a Comment

We all know that the outside corner as being the most effective location for pitchers.

But if a pitcher throws outside on a regular basis, batters will start to cheat and lean over or crowd the plate to try to hit those pitches.

So commanding both the inside and outside of the plate is very important to keep the batter off balance.

Regardless of a pitch being a strike or ball, throwing gas close to a batter will open up the outer half of the plate.

Most youth pitchers are also afraid of hitting a batter so as a coach, you will need to reinforce to your pitcher that a batter is responsible for getting out of the way.
