MWP RU Struggles to Find Groove Against Ottumwa IA
MWP RU had trouble keeping up with Ottumwa IA in a 9-2 loss on Saturday.
Ottumwa IA scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Ottumwa IA came thanks to singles by Matthew Mitchell and Tucker Long and sacrifice flies by Dylan Forney and Mayson Lipp.
Tatem Telfer earned the victory on the mound for Ottumwa IA. Telfer lasted three innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out seven. Mitchell and Long entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Evan Krogen took the loss for MWP RU. The hurler surrendered five runs on eight hits over three and a third innings, striking out two and walking one.
Benjamin Likness went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead MWP RU in hits.
Ottumwa IA collected 14 hits on the day. Long, Jacob Figueroa, and Lipp each had multiple hits for Ottumwa IA. Long led Ottumwa IA with four hits in four at bats.
