New England (Keene, NH) Nabs Win Over Midwest Plains Runner Up (West Fargo, SD) Despite Early 4-Run Inning

New England weathered a scare by MWP RU in the sixth inning where New England coughed up four runs, but New England still won 10-7 on Wednesday. Parker Henrich, James Buffington, and Axel Anderson each had RBIs in the frame.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. New England collected 12 hits and MWP RU had seven.

MWP RU got things moving in the second inning, when Cooper Mapes grounded out, scoring one run.

New England pulled away for good with seven runs in the third inning. In the third Zakariya Whitney doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Nolan Gillis singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Noah Parrelli singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Troy Fedison drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jake Hilliard singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Whitney earned the victory on the mound for New England. The fireballer surrendered two runs on one hit over three innings, striking out five. Oliver Frowein and Sean Callahan entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Callahan recorded the last three outs to earn the save for New England.

Evan Krogen took the loss for MWP RU. Krogen surrendered seven runs on seven hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

New England racked up 12 hits. Whitney, Gillis, and Callahan each collected multiple hits for New England. Gillis and Whitney each collected three hits to lead New England.

Anderson went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead MWP RU in hits. MWP RU stole 12 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Trey Husar led the way with three.
