How To Use Your Own Domain Name URL with Blue Sombrero Sports Platform

October by Baseball Dad Leave a Comment

This is a super quick information designed for people who are migrating to Blue Sombrero.

Blue Sombrero’s tutorials are not exactly detailed so I am going to show you how you can use your custom domain name for your league, instead of using their standard domain name.

We will use www.mybaseballleague.com as the sample custom URL and pretend that Blue Sombrero issued www.clubs.bluesombrero.com/default.aspx?portalid=123456 as the standard URL for My Baseball League.

1. Log into your domain registrar’s website
2. Click on Advanced DNS (if you have Namecheap) or something similar if you have a different registrar
3. Modify the A Record with following values:
Host = @
Value = 174.129.209.6
TTL = 1 min (or whatever value is the lowest; do NOT select AUTOMATIC)

4. For the CNAME Record, use the following values:
Host = www
Value = clubs.bluesombrero.com
TTL = 1 min (or whatever value is the lowest; do NOT select AUTOMATIC)

Once complete, you need to submit a ticket so that their support can update the backend server to recognize www.mybaseballleague.com

Please note that Blue Sombrero DOES NOT allow URL masking. That means when people type www.mybaseballleague.com and head over to Blue Sombrero, it will automatically revert to www.clubs.bluesombrero.com/default.aspx?portalid=123456

Hope this helps some of you
